While working a branding assignment in Plano and Irving last week, I had a “Three’s Company” (anyone old enough to remember that John Ritter tv series which chronicles the capers and antics of constant misunderstandings?) moment with a client while taking her headshots and candid photography.
It started something like this, “Last year, my Santa and I . . .” It was then followed by, “Well, actually I have a few Santas. Due to the new bad C-word, I had to find a new Santa, as my original Santa is in his 80s and very nervous about being in public. And, for the first year after more than a decade (not sure what took me so long), I had a Black Santa . . .”
Well, this lady had no idea at Photography by Misty we do more than corporate photography in Dallas. Thank goodness, something in the conversation led me to believe she had questions as to why I had a Santa in the first place… never mind the fact I said I had three.
After explaining my relationship with not one, not two, but THREE Santas, we conjured up some fun stories as to why this middle-aged women would have red-suited men in her back pocket….

Was this some sort of role-play scenario that got boring, spiraling out of control?

Did I possibly still get a magically stuffed stocking on Christmas morning? nawww… I stuff it myself so I get what I really want.

Were these naughty little Santas? By the way, I’m not even sure what that means, but what I do know is my Santa-Schooled (yes, there are schools to educate the large elf) bearded man has been asked to get a little cray cray with adults. He politely declined.

Was Santa a code name for a boyfriend?
Yep, as you can see, the candid picture of J is improperly composed and out of focus. Had I not popped my camera off the tripod, my laughter would not have affected the final image. It was, however, perfect for this blog.
Whew. So happy I realized I needed to clarify to J who works for this very high-profile company. They have earned a plethora of US Government patents for their work, and though I may not always act like it, I do have a reputation to uphold.
We like to keep our Santa as one who adores milk and cookies, loves all Littles like they were his very own grandchildren, and continues the magic of the mysterious man. Whether you need a listening ear for your babies’ Christmas wishes, a photographer to update your corporate team’s headshots or crisp clean product photography for your online store, we’ve got you. And every shoot includes a little magic.
