Professional & Fun
All in One

Planning, orchestrating and experiencing a big event can be exhausting to the point that the fun easily passes by. Sometimes so much so that it’s hard to hold on to the details, especially for those involved in making it come to fruition.
When it comes to galas, there are few which compare to City House’s annual celebration and fundraiser. With hundreds of people in attendance of this Plano-based non-profit benefiting children, it’s virtually impossible to soak it all in. However, wouldn’t it be nice to revisit the evening again and again - all for the price of admission? That’s exactly where professional and fun photography come into play.
With a roaming photographer (that being me at this recent fundraiser), the details, emotions and activities are brought to life again and again. Attendees may be able to tell their friends how Phillip Piecrceall with Swing City Auction is able to raise $100,000s, but seeing it captured in the moment shows the genuineness of the evening. And it’s one thing to try and describe what Plano’s First Lady was wearing that evening, but it’s another to go back and see it in action.
While, of course, those pictures are fun, too, there’s nothing quite like photobooth images to document the evening, the fun. It’s the perfect way to gather friends together to get a little silly. And, hey, who doesn’t like a little instant gratification? Not only do interactive photography services (you gotta check out this booth) provide the opportunity to post to social media and showcase where and with whom you are playing, but a print out offers a little goody at the end of the evening. Afterall, not everyone can bid $1000s of dollars on fine art and vacations overseas.
And it’s not all about the attendees. The whole point of galas is to raise money for the organizations. By investing in photography services, non-profits are able to revisit the decor from the year prior, be reminded of what was successful and what may not have panned out as planned. Organizers may want a sweet reminder of who was in attendance, as they may need a personal invitation. Oh sure, these things should be documented in spreadsheets, too, but one should always have a back-up plan. Plus isn’t it a little more exhilarating to gether round a gallery of images than to pour over another boring document?
Part of the photobooth process includes a lot of communication based on themes, colors, backdrops. While staying on-brand is essential, QR codes, web addresses, and sponsor’s information as part of the final product serves as a promotional piece that lives in each attendee’s home. No one throws a picture away… right?
Oh sure, at Photography by Misty, we are huge fans of all photography. However, it’s a tough argument not to believe in pictorial documentation. Many may argue it’s not in the budget. Think of it this way: aside from the money raised, what else about the evening will live on forever? Whether you hire professionals (which we would like very much) or you solicit some students to get their practice on, we beg of you to capture your big events with photography and videography services.
