Strike That Pose...
People’s favorite subjects are themselves. Just ask someone. Give them a drink or two, and you’ll probably know more than you ever wished to know. However when it comes to pictures, people have the tendency to run the other way. Oh sure, there’s the Instagram models, the sorority and Cali girls or the over-steroided metrosexuals who can’t get enough of themselves. However still more people shy away from a camera than embracing their time to shine.
Part of their hesitation, I believe, is people can’t see themselves. They might think they’re striking a beautiful pose until they see the results… whahh, whahh whahh. Practice practice practice. And even then they might not get it right. Take myself for instance, I strike a pose every morning when I get dressed. I look in that full-length mirror and strike my portrait pose - the one I teach to all my clients -10 pounds lighter instantaneously. Yet, in the heat-of-a-picture moment, oftentimes everything I know about a pretty portrait blows out the window.
And I think that’s what people really like bout selfies - they are in control of their own destiny. If they are piloting the shutter and know what they do and don’t like about themselves, wha lah! They can create images they are proud to share. And that’s what Jayem with Elevate Events and I really like about his mirror photo booth. We hesitate to even call it a photobooth, as it is so much more fun, so much more interactive. Honestly, it’s more of an event activity than a photobooth.
This mirror booth is interactive and allows to people to see themselves pre, during and post. They can flirt with themselves and their friends vs staring at layers of intimidating glass.
While oftentimes Photography by Misty’s corporate clients literally have nightmares before our time together, people flock to photobooths again and again. Average wedding attendees visit a photobooth three times. They will pull in best friends, spouses and even star in their own show. It’s an opportunity to grab a prop that’s whimsical, play with their loved ones and go home with a piece of history. Oh and don’t forget about the social media posts. I mean, where else do we get affirmation (cough cough)?
Admit it, sometimes our parties seem a little lame. Sure spending time with friends is great, eating unhealthy food satisfies a guilty pleasure and overly sugared cocktails…. However, a party with a photobooth can elevate your event to another level with an interactive photography experience. This same photobooth service can be an activity within an activity.
We certainly hope to see you soon, whether it be at your cousin’s wedding reception, at Loews Live by Globe Life Park or the Bowl Lounge in the Dallas Design District. Heck, you can even ask Jayem to your next house party. Regardless, it’ll be worth every penny.
