Putting smiles on kids faces during the 2020 holiday season!
Photography by Misty announces safe ways for children to still get in their Santa time and holiday portraits during the 2020 season with home visits and, yes, even public visits. Nope, not even the C word is going to squelch the Santa spirit for the children of DFW. Technology, creativity and a lot of brainstorming joined together to save Santa this year.
As events were cancelled and rescheduled only to be cancelled again, the Photography by Misty team decided Santa would have to rise above the roller-coasters schedules while still keeping children (and Santa) safe with options, safe distancing and a few additional props.
According to Photography by Misty’s Santa Survey of loyal followers, in-person visits with the Jolly ’ole Elf are still the crowd favorite. Most holiday events have been cancelled, however Misty’s team is working to score a couple of venues for Pop-Up Santa options. Individually wrapped Christmas cookies and sweet carolers will add to the ambience. Children will visit from two yardsticks away, then either sit in front of Santa’s sleigh, take a seat in a child-sized Christmas scenario or huddle close enough to Santa for a beautiful portrait with an undetectable-to-the-camera plexi piece. As much as the team, and I especially won’t like it, socially separating Mr. C and the kiddos is non-negotiable.
Personalized visits scored number two when it came to opportunities to slide Santa that Christmas wish list. Santa will stop by the house, delivering cookies to the doorstep with a little rat-a-tat-tat. Before the children have a chance to turn the knob, Santa will safe distance himself. Once they have picked their jaw off the front porch, Santa will ask for their wish list. With the mental notes taken, everyone will proceed to the front yard to create their annual Santa portrait, staying germ-distance away.
While Misty thought she was being clever with a video-conference offering. Not one parent of Santa’s admirers liked the idea. Hey, that’s ok. With more than 13 years of taking Santa portraits, Misty, Jenny and the rest of the photography team didn’t like the idea either. Nothing beats the magic of Santa and the children interacting in person.
“We’ve been working with Santa for more than 13 years now,” said Misty J Hoyt, owner & lead photographer. “ A Christmas without Santa? No way. Honestly, some children will be relieved - it terrifies them to sit on Santa’s lap. We feel really great that our options will give families an experience they’ve come to expect while knowing we are also being responsible.”
Photography by Misty’s Team Santa will start delivering the holiday spirit November 20 and will wrap up the season December 13 so Santa can ensure his supply chain squad has everything they need to deliver the goods.
