Branding is something we’ve done for years without thinking much about it. When we reach a certain age we are allowed and take the liberty to make our own decisions. We start wearing what we want, stylize our hair as we wish, and surround ourselves with colors that make us happy.
And, whether we realize it or not, we have branded ourselves. People know what to expect (or your stylized personality might just be that you’re unpredictable). You make certain facial expressions, have adopted key phrases, cuss like a sailor or maybe never at all. Comfort and trust come with predictability.
Your friend you haven’t seen in 10 years still expects to be greeted at the door with an ice-cold beer and a smile. Or, if you show up on his doorstep after a decade, you go ahead and let yourself in (su casa es me casa) and get your own damn beer. Either way, any more or any less just wouldn’t be the same.
Our personal brand is what makes us feel good, look good (or feel comfortable), and invites people to love us. We are not necessarily trying to sell ourselves.

When it comes to branding a business, however, it is imperative to have a Branding Company, helping to do it right. Everything from verbiage to typeface to photography needs to speak a commonality. It is not as simple as deciding on a color theme. What do those colors say about your company?
Does your tagline match your story? Oh so many things to think about.
What shapes speak to your clients? The messaging is all the little things and all the big things, too. What if you were cruising by a Dallas McDonald’s, and the Golden Arches were cobalt blue? Imposter, right!?! Well, maybe not, Mickey D’s in Sedona, AZ, actually has blue arches, but you get the point.
Are you gifting your clients? Putting toys in the cereal box (wait, do they still do that?)? Not just any random coffee mug or toy will do. All the right people in all the right organizations with all the right backgrounds will strategically create consistent and beautiful results. That’s their job afterall. Your job is produce a great product or curate great services.
