What if this Year’s Gift was Prominently Displayed?

Material items come and go. Super cool today, in the charity-drop the next year. And, most of the time, people do not remember who gave them what for their birthday, religious-based celebration or Hallmark holiday. 

So, what’s the solve to gift giving? Back when the kids were in high school, their rooms were a mess - all of the time - and I decided we were not going to get them anything for Christmas that wasn’t somewhat essential. The last thing they needed was one more thing to walk around, get broken, and was not appreciated. Hmmm… Group On! I mean, what could be better than an experience?

That year, my daughter received a flight over Dallas in a tiny, yet mighty plane. The pilot even let her take control as they ventured over Dallas, then headed up to Plano to fly over our home and Plano Senior High School. Another year, my son and our nephew were gifted sailing lessons - they both loved the idea of sailing, but their first attempts were slightly less than disastrous.  

Now let’s get to the point (I know, I know . . . it always takes me awhile). In 2020, I had this grand idea of creating an event for my team - gifting them family portraits. We’d take turns photographing everyone’s families, hang out getting to know one another, and then they would all be gifted a wall portrait to commemorate our time together. I believe I give everyone pretty neat gifts each year - but this is one they certainly will always remember. That’s what portraits are for: a great experience that also serves as a daily reminder of cherished people.

We finally made it happen this year at a private Richardson park (my little secret I will share with you). And, this year, Photography by Misty’s A-list vendors, trusted partners and corporate clients throughout the Dallas area will be gifted the same - though we wait until Valentine’s Day. It’s the day of love - or at least Hallmark says it is - and love is what it’s all about. No, no, no, not the Hookie Pookie, but LOVE.

We at Photography by Misty have photographed enough corporate events to know that there are wonderful goodies for both internal people and vendors, but there are also a l,ot of things given in order to just check the box.
