Babies!!! Don’t you just love them? Well, maybe/maybe not. My husband doesn’t really like babies and neither do either of my children. Michael thinks of them as a blog, Rhylie thinks kids are random and John Michael was always jealous (probably not anymore). Me? I got my whooping cough vaccination just so I could get a leg up on the competition of others wanting to hold a babe.
As much as I just cannot get enough of a swaddled babe, I am not a baby portrait photographer nor do I want to educate myself on such a delicate skill. However, My Jenny (as I like to call her) and associate photographer expressed an interest in baby portraits several years ago. If one of my team members expresses an interest in growing the business and ultimately their skill set, the answer is always (unless it’s wedding photography) yes!
Fast forward a few years, and Jenny is now ready to rock and roll. We are proud to offer portrait photography from the womb to the boardroom.
Associate photographer Kristin adores mothers-to-be and loves imaging what magic those little bumps have in store for their parents and what they might have to offer humankind in general.
Jenny not only enjoys newborn portraiture, but she also knits and crochets beanies, lovies and more through her on-line store The Stitch Cove. There is a science to newborn photography, from the timeline for success to the temperature of the room. And, when done right, the magic starts to happen and babies are miraculously cooperative.
Photography by Misty’s newborn team is quite impressive, and I can humbly say so because it has very little to do with me. Kim, jenny’s assistant works with newborns almost every day as a Registered Nurse and a Certification in Maternal Newborn Nursing at Baylor Scott & White. This gem-of-an-assistant is fun to watch as her baby skills are so perfect and natural. As an outside observer, one can tell that babies feel the love radiating from Kim’s newborn ninja skills. Not only is she helping Jenny create beautiful, wall-portrait-worthy pieces of art, but having her on hand puts many first-time moms at ease. Being a first-time mom can be overwhelming. Kim is happy to answer questions and address concerns that are pressing but do not necessarily warrant a call to the pediatrician.
Just when you think that new baby couldn’t get any sweeter, they start moving and grooving, and that’s when it’s time for the Photography by Misty team to step in again. I love me a bright-eyed 6-month-old who sits up and plays with brightly colored toys. They are not enough to be scared. As long as they are well-rested and fed, they make for a very enjoyable session, resulting in precious keepsake images.
Every photographer has their A #1 favorite photography sessions. While the bulk of what I shoot is headshots, my top two sessions are high school senior and 1-year-old smash cake sessions. The bday cake creations are fun; they are messy; and they are oh-so-adorable. However, what I really like about them is how much you can tell about the Little One’s personality. It is absolutely amazing to me how much can be determined about a child at such an early age.
Basically, our team has got your portraits covered from the womb to the boardroom in Plano, Dallas, Frisco, and beyond, even when that once-newborn has one in the womb themselves. Life is such a beautiful journey and we are thrilled to go walk side-by-side with our clients.
