What's up y’all! I hope everyone is happy and having fun today! Sometimes in the midst of things we forget to have fun. I don’t necessarily mean doing ‘fun’ things, but moreover having fun in the things that you do do. Such as laughing at the fact I just said: “do do.”
Don’t get me wrong, I love going to concerts, six flags, family reunions, great hikes, and other intrinsically exciting things. It is simply important to also find fun, especially in years such as our last, in the daily things we do. I encourage you to make miniature games of your daily tasks and use these games to challenge yourself and improve on things. Sentimentals aside….I miss parties!! And I have a feeling we are going to start having more and more! Let’s talk about some tips for planning an unforgettable party.
4 TIPS FOR PLANNING AN UNFORGETTABLE PARTY
1) UNDERSTAND YOUR AUDIENCE
It is important to continue considering, throughout your planning, the guests and how your decisions will eventually make them feel at the party. In the words of Maya Angelou, “people may not remember what you do or say, but they will always remember how you made them feel.” With these truths in mind, you may find yourself being pulled in different directions with each event or party, and that is okay! Every different event is going to have a different demographic, different purpose, different attire, etc, and every event must be planned with all of these things in mind. Ask yourself, “how can I make THESE guests happy?”
2) ORGANIZE ACTIVITIES & BOOK ENTERTAINMENT
Activities are of utmost importance. They can take many forms across the horizons of different types of parties, but nonetheless, all great parties should have activities. May it be a drawing and give-away, an on-site photo booth, an interactive game, some interactive photography, displays to enjoy, and the list could go on forever. The bottom line is, you want your guests to be entertained while they are at your event. Picking the activities may require you to sit down and think about the type of guests who will be attending. Are there kids? Do the guests share a common interest? More women? More men? Etc. I would recommend having at least 3-5 activities at an event. This way, if a guest doesn’t find some of the activities suited to them, they have other options and no one is left bored. Boredom is the worst enemy of parties.
3) CREATE BUZZ USING ENGAGING DECOR
Having a beautiful backdrop is always a great idea! Even if you do not have an event photo booth present or even a photographer, people will always gravitate towards it to take selfies or group photos in front of it. This is the kind of thing that people will remember and talk about long after the party bags find the bottom of the trash can. Now, not everyone runs a corporate event photo booth company and has instant access to backdrops, but with the help of some PVC, dollar tree, and lots of tape, you can get it done too!
4) THEME IS EVERYTHING
I don’t want to make this too long or direct, so I am only going to give one last final tip, and it is one that I hold as the most important. Theme. Theme, theme, theme. Whatever that vibe is that the party is going for, do it all out! If the party is pirate-themed, you should want the guests to be in fear they may actually get robbed for their booty! The food, decor, music, lighting, and dress code can all be in accordance to put together an escape from the real world that people will remember for years.
