Importance of Video Goes Beyond Marketing

Recently, while our team has been on video shoots or through post-delivery communication, we've heard accolades (of course, Demi and Ramsey are great), and we've also learned a thing or two about why people cash in on our video services. And to think we thought we knew.
While we are predominately corporate photographers, we understand the importance of video messaging. The two go hand-in-hand, which is exactly why we decided to bring the second under our umbrella. Both still photography and video clips help tell personal and business stories.
Here's what we've learned about the importance of corporate photography(over the past 20-plus years) in addition to the obvious:
- Teams work hard to orchestrate events and would like to document their efforts to help plan next year as well as to share with investors. We've traveled from Dallas to Plano to Vegas to Miami to Denver (you get the point) with the same company, offering photography services. The investors can't always be present (or maybe never) but would like to see how money is being spent.
- Those in attendance have worked their tails off. These corporate events may be educational, however, even more importantly, they are celebrations: happy hours, new product releases, nice dinners and goody bags worth (usually) hundreds of dollars. And, while most people genuinely do not like their picture taken, the reality is part of the celebration. If someone asks for a picture of you (or has spent thousands of dollars to do so), it's a compliment. Hiring a professional photographer is one more level of celebration.
- Slideshow presentations are often used to get team members hyped up for next year's event, too.
- Over the years, our pictures have also been used at retirement parties and celebration-of-life events.
- When we work one-on-one with team members to create headshots, our services boost self confidence. More times than not, those who get their headshots taken first go tell their co-workers how we helped them pose, and they had a lot of fun getting their picture taken. It's not just photography, it's an experience.
Clean and polished video deliverables can also be used for all of the above. Most commonly (or at least in my experience so far), companies hire us to push out their marketing message. Ask anyone who frequents You Tube, it's all about the video. These little gems can also be used on websites, social media, for internal training purposes and for a variety of other reasons.
Our friends at Cody & Sons plumbing (and more) used us last year for headshots and generational photography. This year, they had the ingenious idea of putting together a gratitude video. With all hands-on-deck, the Cody & Sons Plano team each played an important role in the final deliverable.
They now have a beautiful piece they can use on a plethora of platforms. However, the owner's intent, he expressed to us, went beyond marketing material. Being on camera (especially in video format) can be very intimidating and fearful. However, it can also be rewarding. By rehearsing lines and going through the process of getting it right, each person grew a little. The experience fueled them with the power to confidently converse with other staff members, those in leadership and, most importantly, with clients.
Other benefits we observed:
- team building
- encouragement from other team members
- Many shared jokes
- and poking fun of themselves.
And they even inspired us to create a video to better introduce you to our team here at Photography by Misty. Coming soon to a website near you.
Wether you hire us or not, we certainly hope to see you soon. And, just in case: Misty@PhotographyByMisty.com or 214.235.3239
