Working with Santa each year is so delightful - so many great (and sometimes sad) stories, sweet smiles, a few crying faces, and experiences that shape my heart and soul.
While we are just now getting this 2021 party started at Legacy West (Ummm…. I mean, Legacy North Pole), there’s already one story that may just be my all-time favorite. Before I get to the good stuff, I need to give you a little backstory. Santa, who has attended Santa schools from across the nation, was telling me earlier in the day that oftentimes round-bellied men in their 20s, 30s, and 40s wish to don a beard when December rolls around. However, Santa (who is now certified in working with special needs children) said the wiser the man, the better the Santa.
Fast forward….
This man stops by and asks if his mother could have a quick chat with the Jolly (and wise) ole’ Elf. and here, my friends, is the rest of the story:
“Santa, this year, I’d like to ask for World Peace,” says M.
“I’m afraid I can’t make that happen, at least not without some help. World peace starts with you and it starts with me,” he says with a nod and a wink.
“I understand,” says M.
“ If we are kind and peaceful with others, the kindness will spread. Shall we get to work on this,” asks Santa.
“Yes, Santa,” replies M. “Santa, thank you. This means so much to me. You have made my Christmas much brighter, and I will do the same for others.”
Santa, who may have been shipped to us from the Magnolia last year, is right. I do not think a younger or less educated Santa could have handled the wishes as eloquently.
Think you’re too old for Santa? Silly, you. Santa isn’t just for kids.
Whether you have children who need some extra attention, a child eagerly awaiting to explain their list to Santa, your baby deserves to see a Santa who looks just like him (yes, Black Santa is back) or you yourself have a special request, stop by and see us every Saturday, as well as Dec. 20, 21, and 22, at Legacy North Pole. Sundays are reserved for Black Santa. Reservations are highly recommended.
