Is as easy as a white backdrop...
At Photography by Misty, our backdrop of choice is a solid white background. “Boring,” you might say; “it washes me out,” say others. However, what our clients may not know prior to booking: they don’t have to stay married to that “boring” backdrop. The beauty of a plain white backdrop (and NO, not a white wall. We’re professional around here.) is it gives our photography editor the option to teleport our clients to wherever they’d ultimately like to be or an on-brand color scheme.
While many of our clients have been photographed on an all-white backdrop at my home studio in Plano, they’ve ended up:
-
In North Carolina so the author could be on brand with her Christian romance novel set in the Carolinas
-
In an office park setting when a rainy day forced us to stay inside
-
with an on-brand periwinkle-blue background instead of the “boring” bright-white background where they originally stood
-
In a whirlwind of numbers to represent their accounting firm
The other reason we love the purity of white is that our clients are then able to be a part of their marketing material without having to be stuck on a box, a circle or a rectangle. Just as they are cut out and teleported elsewhere, they can be cut out, becoming part of their business card, real estate signage and more. This gives their marketing material a cleaner, more fluid message. In fact, white background images (with both shoulders in) is required for Ebby Halliday’s Realtors.
And is if we needed another reason to shoot white-background images, our friends at PikWizard have a plethora of white background wallpapers. This allows us to go from plain white to white with pizzazz. Can’t dream it? Here you go. And you’re welcome. If you’ve been to my home studio you’d know how much I am in love with creative white. How can that be, you might ask? While we’ve just been talking going from white to any setting you can imagine, an abstract white background is also super appealing. As a matter of fact, the virtual background I got the most compliments on during Zoom meetings was a very clean abstract white.
Whether you choose our fave backdrop (gee, I wonder what that could be), would like to go with a traditional backdrop of greens, grays or blues, prefer a black backdrop (we are in love with the dramatic look of black, too) or would like to go environmental, we’d love to be your go-to headshot photographer, serving Dallas, Plano, McKinney, Allen, Frisco and beyond.
