Really getting to know a client oftentimes results in almost considering ourselves (as well as they considering us) a part of their team, having a passion for their mission and goals, and being proud of what they accomplish.
Most recently working with Certus engineering firm made me reflect on where we started together last October. Since that initial conversation, scheduling two headshots at my Plano photography studio with new team members, we have now worked together several times, creating headshots for 10-plus new hires. We’ve taken team portraits in Plano’s Legacy West and headshots in the new (from a strip-shopping locale) Dallas location on the 6th floor of a fancy skyscraper.
And Certus’ growth is more than just new people and a new location. Just last week, they scored the coveted award Engineer of the Year by the North Texas Chapter, beating out some of the local big dogs. Even though I had nothing to do with their growth and success, I literally felt an overwhelming sense of pride in their accomplishments in such a short period of time. If you visit their website, you’ll understand (without knowing anything about engineering) what sets them apart. They are fun, professional, and strategically hire only the best talent. Mark my words, my EE daughter will work there one day.
Then there are my friends at Cariloop. I cannot remember who many team members they had when I first started working with them in 2017, but just check them out now. And “Hello,” how many companies tell each and every one of their employees’ stories on their website. That’s intuitive, especially considering their work of taking care of clients’ loved ones during their most vulnerable times. I can almost guarantee you a professional headshot and personal story is a comfort to those who bring Cariloop into their family’s life.
Again, Steven and Michael (who are at the bottom of their Team website page. Which within itself speaks volumes) have created a standout company that thinks outside the industry's box. They are rewarded not only for their blood, sweat, and tears, but they realize what needs improvement in their industry, the way team members are treated, and how and why they need to do things differently.
While we at Photography by Misty may not know anything about engineering firms, caring for loved ones in challenging times, or how to operate a 5-Star Chamber, we’ve learned from books, podcasts, seminars, and business coaches Jerry Kezhaya and Leslie Hassler (and yes, her images are my images; thank you, Leslie) that the bottom line is Business is Business. If companies have defined missions, visions, a strategic financial plan, are passionate about their work and their people they will not only have healthy bank accounts, but they will experience genuine happiness and peace in their lives.
