Just like a kid at the bank, asking for a lollipop, whenever I purchase something at a retail establishment with a roll of stickers behind the counter, I always ask for one. Why? They are fun, and I use them to decorate my notebook. Since I save my notebooks even after every square inch has been scrolled upon, the stickers alone will tell a bit of my story.
At our core, we are simple people, and many people’s love for stickers further proves little things make the world a happier place. My son’s Yeti is covered in lawyers of stickers. As one starts to wear, another is slapped on, overlapping the no-longer-legible brand. My workout of choice (which I should choose 4 times a week vs my sporadic regiment) is The Barre Code Plano. Every few months, my friend Julie offers a workout challenge, which is tracked by…. You guessed it… stickers. The members go cray cray for these tiny little gems which come about 50/sheet. There’s no glitter, no shine, just simple brightly colored stars. However, like a child’s chore chart, each and every star comes with the promise of something better. Sure, a tight tush or arms worthy of a gun show should be incentive enough. However, fill up that star chart, and you’re eligible for massages, food, workout gear, and more.
I’ve always had stickers in my business. Not to be cute, not really for fun. Mainly just to brand bags and boxes, mailers with Photography by Misty. However, in the last several year's stickers have been more popular with adults and children alike, especially among those in their 20s. So when my son started his interactive photo booth business, and Sticker Mule popped up in my inbox with these holographic stickers, I just knew he had to have them. The price point was low, and their beauty snags attention from across the room. It’s a small investment that delivers a powerful punch.
I almost think of branded stickers as essential to my business.
During the past year, my husband has received several goody boxes from his boss. There are usually some gourmet cookies, a gadget or two, and a thank you card. In his box a few weeks ago, there was a desktop vacuum. It is the coolest little thing, especially considering he is Zooming through breakfast and lunch. This super dope devise vacuums up crumbs, eraser debris (for those of us, yes me, who still use a pencil), and more. I soon became obsessed - I wanted to gift my top clients with a desk vacuum. However, as much as I love my promotional products lady, I do not want to order 100 of these 360-degree-rotating winds. I also wanted to make sure I was getting one of the top-rated chargeable suction devices. Yet, call me selfish, I also wanted to give a branded gift. Oh, the dilemma.
Then, guess what lands in my inbox yet again. You got it, another Sticker Mule promo. This time for round stickers. Not only do Photography by Misty’s corporate and personal photography clients both know circles play a big part in my brand, but so does everyone who has ever received a note from me or to whom I have handed a business card.
Problem solved. With my logo already uploaded on the SM site, it took me less than 5 minutes to be four days away from sending my favorite office park manager a Photography-by-Misty-branded black and white desktop vacuum. The thick and durable vinyl sticker sits loud and proud atop this useful gift.
If you have a business (or if you don’t), there are so many fun and smart ways to use stickers to promote goods and services (or yourself). A good friend of mine used to manage and, more importantly, market a garage-door company. (BTW, Kris can now help you market & GROW your business, too.) She handed out stickers to slap on the garage wall, next to the opener. Ingenious. Think about it. When you have a garage door emergency, you’re normally headed to work, a lunch date, a kids’ soccer game. You can’t think logically because no one has time for this sh@%, and it causes immediate stress. I am ashamed to say (because it’s been an operator error) I’ve had to refer to that sticker more than once. But, hey, on the bright side at least I had the sticker for quick and easy reference.
I hope this doesn’t sound too much like a commercial for SM. However, if you know me (even a little bit), you know that when I find something good I like to share it with the world. And I just KNOW stickers are a fantastic way to get the word out. Why not use the best: a quality brand must send a quality message, from products and services to packaging and photography (just had to slip that in there).
