Nothing says I love you better than a picture. Alright, alright, I know. I am a photographer so of course I’m going to talk about the importance of pictures. However, it’s true.
My grandmothers and aunts just loved the fact I would scribble a note and load an envelope up with printed pictures several times a year. It made no difference if it was snapshots or a professional family portrait. They just loved updating their fridge fronts with my children’s beautiful faces. Sometimes the candids racked harder than the professional pictures (especially considering my daughter didn’t like having her picture taken until she was at least 6).
e precious memories made my family the favorite. Oh sure, it was pre-social media, but I have absolutely no doubt a tangible picture wins the day, every day.
Don’t start hating on me when I say this, but I end up tossing all the holiday cards without a picture on December 31. However, I have organized and have all my portrait cards on display every Christmas. And, honestly, I DO NOT like the holiday cards including the braggy update. The holier-than-though letters paint a deceptive social-media pictures. Instead, I treasure the pictorial cards that speak for themselves.
This year, more than ever, sending a Christmas card, featuring beautiful faces will let your moved ones know you’re ok. Scribble a handwritten note to accompany the family portrait. Frame it for those closest to you; spend a few dollars each, sliding it into a magnetic frame for your top-tier friends; and/or find some coordinating picture-framed cards for everyone else on your card list.
Snap a picture yourself or let the Photography by Misty team help you out!
